Tips for Using this Site

Welcome to the Main St. New Canaan Property Owners site.  We have chosen a blog format to provide an open forum for dialogue.  There are also additional pages, such as this one, with more in-depth information and resources.

For those of you who are new to blogging, the format on our “home” page consists of “posts” in the chronological order they were created, the most recent on top.  Each entry has a title and related content.  Unlike traditional “static” websites, blogs are updated frequently with new posts, as well as with reader comments.

How to Comment

If you would like to respond to one of the posts, either click on its title or the “Comments” link under it (“No Comments” just means there haven’t been any yet).  This will bring up a screen that asks for information. 

Your “name” and an email address must be entered in order to post a comment.  The name you enter will appear with your post; your email is not posted for the public, but simply a way the software tries to keep spam from clogging the site. If you enter a website (not required) that will be hyperlinked to the name posted with your comment. Please use the same information each time you post a comment.

Enter your comment in the box below and click on the “Submit Comment:” button.  It’s a good idea to read it over and double-check your spelling before you submit, because you can’t go back and edit it.

There is a delay built into the software when you submit your first comment.  In order to avoid having SPAM posted on this site, the site administrator will be alerted and must approve your first comment before it appears online. Your subsequent comments will appear online immediately.

Site Rules

Please stick to the topics, be courteous to others, respect people’s privacy, keep your comments civil, and avoid language that you would not want your children to read.  Different points of view are what blogging is all about, but the site administrator may delete comments that attack individuals, use obscene or objectionable language, or are otherwise not respectful of our readers.

We encourage you to let readers know your general location in town, if you are a Town employee or elected official, or anything else that may help readers better understand your point of view.  The site administrator’s home is located on the west side of lower Main Street.
